Y – Yawn Trick

Ani: Mommy, why do people yawn?
Mom: Because that’s the way their body feel sleepy, sweetheart.
Ani: (deep in thought) But Mumma, why do you yawn when I talk a lot?
Mom: (laughs) Well. Sometimes grown-up brains act to be sleepy when they’re working really hard. It happens to keep up with super-speedy kid stories like yours darling.

Ani: (Curiously) So you’re saying my stories make you tired? Is it true?
Mom
: No, no! Your stories are like rollercoaster rides — Very exciting, entertaining, and slightly faster. My brain has to catch its breath every so often to stay attentive and to keep pace with the story speed!
Ani
: (smiling) So yawning is like my brain giving you a strong brain boost?
Mom: Just that! When you narrate three stories in one quick breath, my brain is, “Hold on. Give me a break and let my brain stretch before it starts enjoying the story again!” yawns as if acting.
Ani: (giggles) Whoa! I’m a personal brain trainer for you Mumma!

Mom: You are my little coach, indeed! And look you are doing it so well. My brain needs to take an afternoon nap already!
Ani: (defiantly) Don’t worry, Mumma. I will tell you a few more stories and then you will feel more sleepy to go to bed!
Mom: (making a poor face) Ahhh nooo. No more now darling I am already too sleepy.
