Two stories – Narrating the essence of Friendship
yaaro dostee bahut hee hassen ha – (Friends, friendship is indeed beautiful)
Since their school days, Aman and Rishi’s friendship has been the talk of the town. They were inseparable, and the bond remained as beautiful as the Jay Veeru jodi of the film Sholay. A song from the film was “Yeh dosti hum nahi todenge”. It was their mantra of friendship. It narrates their friendship as priceless. In every high and low of life, they found themselves beside each other. It was a rainy night, and Aman was returning home from the office on his bike. The road was flooded with water, and his motorcycle broke down in the middle of the road, and no mechanic shop was nearby.
Aman tried to fix it, but nothing worked out in his favor. He was standing alone. No vehicle stopped to help Aman take the bike to a garage. Suddenly, lightning flashed in the sky, and Aman moved his motorbike near the roadside. He thought of giving a call to Rishi. He was in a dilemma. Aman was unsure if it was good to call Rishi at this time. But unknowingly, his fingers dialed Rishi’s number. The call got picked up with just one ring on the other side. “Yaar Aman… what’s up buddy? Calling at this time, all, OK?” In an anxious voice Rishi asked this question. “Yaar Rishi… I am in a mess, and my bike broke down in the middle of the waterlogged road. I am not getting any help to take the bike to the garage. Can you call up the garage in your area and send some help to come here and repair the bike.”
There was a sense of helplessness in his voice, and Rishi sensed it. ” Send me your location right away, Aman”. Rishi disconnected the call, and Aman, like a robot, followed his instructions and sent the Google location over WhatsApp to Rishi. Without a second thought, Rishi raced through the rain-soaked streets in his car after picking up a mechanic from the garage near his house. When he found Aman, fear and relief mingled in his heart. They first hugged, and there was a smile on their face. It feels like this rainy water-logged night was a mere backdrop to their unspoken vow of friendship. Both Aman and Rishi knew—this was a friendship that no one ever had the power to break. It was a bond that would last forever.
Yaaro Jee Bhar Ke Jee Le Pal, Lagta Hai Aaj Kal Daur Apna Aayega- Friends, enjoy the moment to your heart’s content, it seems that tomorrow will be our turn
Raj, Priya, and Vikram- The trio remained friends from the day they joined the Mumbai Hansraj College. Well, well, well, there was no love triangle, and the friendship was a pure yarro wali dosti. All that connected them instantly on the first day of college was their small-town background and big dreams.
Yes, they always dreamed big, but life kept them busy with boring routines and their dreams and ambitions remained unfulfilled. Vikram joined his family business and expanded it in Mumbai. Raj joined a private bank and is now in the role of Area Sales Manager. Priya joined a private school as a teacher and now become a school coordinator. But somehow their dreams are nowhere close to the dreams they had in life. They are still connected and meet over coffee or lunch /dinner to cherish their memories, at least after every 3 to 4 months gap.
Raj got a recent promotion in the office and thought of a dinner get-together for the trio. One night, they gathered on Raj’s rooftop. Mumbai city lights below created a nostalgic atmosphere. But there was something else that Raj wanted to say to his friends beyond the news of the promotion. Raj broke the silence after completing the first peg of Champagne, “Yaaro, jee bhar ke jee le pal. Lagta hai aaj kal daur apna aayega.” His words sparked something in all of them. That night, the life path changed, for them.
The trio made a pact to chase their dreams and embarked on the journey to achieving their long-forgotten dreams—Priya resigned from school. She started her art gallery. Vikram quits his role of CEO in his family business and allowed his younger brother to take charge. Now he will travel and become a travel blogger, and Raj can’t withdraw from the job as he has a dependent family but finally starts penning his first novel. That night, they felt the urge to live their dreams. They understood their time had come, and they’d live every moment fully.
Dedicated to the Power of Friendship – August Friendship Day Month
NB: Both the stories are themed on 2 Hindi Bollywood Songs on friendship. It will be wrong if I don’t mention the name of the author whose work inspired me to write stories based on Hindi Bollywood Song theme. That Author and Fellow Blogger is none other than Manali Desai and her book Heartstrings & Harmonies.
This blog post is part of the blog challenge ‘Blogaberry Dazzle’ hosted by Cindy D’Silva and Noor Anand Chawla in collaboration with Dr. Preeti Chauhan.
What a beautiful song you chose and the story sits perfectly with it too. And you simply stole my heart with that last line of acknowledgement, which was totally unexpected and so sweet. Thanks a lot my blogger friend 😍🤗
Much Love to you
Sweet! The power of being friends and singing along in life. That’s what we all need, someone who doesn’t judge us, stands by us and dreams along with us. Nice choice of songs.
Lovely frienship tales! Loved both of them. That’s what friends are for. To egg each other on to live life to their full potential.
We had ye dosti as part of our singing class in a convent school. It is like an anthem for friendship and you have made such a melodious symphony of the essence of friendship.I wish all friends were like them.
I love the 2nd song, ‘Yaaron jee bhar ke jee le pal. Lagta hai aaj kal daur apna aayega,’ but I m forgetting which movie it is from.
Well, friends are friends and through both your stories you have shown their importance in our lives. Each story is different from the other but the base of both is the same… Solid friendship. I shall tell u how I feel about friends through another Bollywood song, ‘ Diye jalte hain, phool khilte hain, badi mushkil se magar, duniya mein dost milte hain’… and lucky are the ones who have friends like the ones in your stories Samata.
Cute and sweet friendship Tale Samta. We all want such friends and some of us have and some don’t. I like the song choice out of which my favourite is yaaro jee bhar ke jee le pal, lagta hai aaj kal daur apna aayega. Your story shows the importance to have such friends.
What a lovely little tale of friendship. Sometimes all it takes is a trigger
Such a touching story Samata. Real friendships are truly hard to find. Recently, just before friendship day, an old friend of mine ditched me. I was heartbroken, and still am. I had invested 9 years of my life on her.
Lovely story. It is very rare to find friends like these. Friends should tell you when you are wrong and also push you to do better.
What a lovely story. Friendships are so important, I have always believed that Friends are the family that we choose.
Lovely story. It reminded me of a Sanskrit poem we learned back in school. Friendships such as these are rare by the day. It is all about the benefits and who brings what to the table now.
Wow, Samata, what a heartfelt story with a unique touch. Loved the writing style, I think I have to learn a lot from you.
These stories beautifully show the beauty of those rare, lifelong friendships. who stand by us through thick and thin —some of us are lucky enough to have them. After reading the last paragraph, I think I need to check out Heartstrings and Harmony by Manali as well.
I’ve had friends who’ve picked up the phone in the middle of the night or rushed to help me when I was in trouble. Those moments of genuine concern and quick action are the heart of true friendship.
It is such a powerful story about friendship and I truly believe friendship still exists. Last year I went to my hometown and got a chance to meet my old school friends, and first I was hesitating about how they would react to seeing me as it was a long gap. But when I met them, we did not feel that it was such a long time, we giggled, laughed and talked nonstop like 15 years teens. Friendship is truly a blessing in disguise.
Two of my favourite songs and such beautiful stories to go with them. Friendship is one bond that isn’t limited by or to anything. All we have to do is love, stand by and support each other when one of us will definitely screw up! 😀
Both stories have the flavour of friendship as a background, and hold the readers’attention through the plot. What I really liked about both were the situations and characters which are so easily identifiable by all.
This blog post beautifully intertwines the pursuit of personal dreams with the value of true friendship, offering inspiring insights into how these elements can complement and enhance each other. The heartfelt one-liners make it a motivating read for anyone striving to achieve their goals while nurturing meaningful relationships.
I loved reading these stories that beautifully capture the essence of friendship. It’s amazing how simple moments and shared experiences can create such deep connections.
This blog beautifully captures the essence of friendship through two heartfelt stories inspired by Hindi Bollywood songs. The author’s tribute to Manali Desai and her book Heartstrings & Harmonies adds a special touch, making this a truly touching read. The stories resonate deeply, perfectly embodying the spirit of August Friendship Month. A wonderful celebration of friendship!
These tales beautifully capture friendship’s depth. From laughter to support in tough times, the stories resonated with my own experiences. A heartwarming reminder of true connection’s power.
A nice ode to friendship.
