Feisty Chillies- Red and Green rocked the stage
Feisty Chillies- Red and Green rocked the stage to make every dish unique
Once upon a time, on a busy kitchen shelf full of other pots and pans, there resided the two proud spices: Green Chilli and Red Dry Chilli. In this case, the two were always quarreling, each stating that they were the spice of the king. Even other spices would be irritated when their fights echoed in the kitchen.
The Fiery Fight of Green and Red Dry Chilli
“Notice me!” shouted the Green Chilli, as it inflated its lustrous green skin. “I have a wonderful taste, I am spicy hot, and chefs do not forget to use me. People enjoy eating me. I’m hot in the whole spice!”
“Ha!”, the Red Dry Chilli replied, shaking his dry and red body arrogantly. “You lose steam faster than a fizzy drink, my heat, is more profound than all others, because it lasts. My heat lasts and makes everything taste more flavorful. I am the conductor of spice, thank you!”
Turmeric Intervene to Bring The conflict to an End
This haughty quarrel continued daily, until Wise Turmeric, sitting peacefully in her jar, had it with them. “Stop it,” she said as the golden powder was shining in the sun. “Shall we allow the cook to decide the ultimate winner?”
The Chef had overheard the two fighting for what felt like the hundredth time, and he exhaled deeply. “Very well,” He said to himself as he picked up his apron. “Let me put an end to this.”
The Making of the Spicy Chilli Dishes
With the hot Green Chilli, he made a curry in one pot. For the first time, it was something fierce, and potent that instantaneously shocked the taste buds. “Whoa!”, said the tasters while gazing forward and shedding tears, “This is explosive, I feel like one hundred different fireworks have gone off in my mouth.” However, it took a few bites before what was initially fiery became turned down.
In the second pot, the Chef added Red Dry Chilli powder. The first strike was quite soft, somewhat shy. But as the tasters continued eating, a tasteful and warm wave of heat settled in their mouths. “Oh,” they murmured, delighting themselves in the remaining spiciness. “It is like when you are at a slow dance during sunset. So dreamy!”
The Chef’s Call
The Chef laughed. “Both dishes, in their respective way, are very good,” he broached. “Green Chilli, as the name suggests, is very aggressive and sexy, while Red Dry Chilli is soft and sophisticated. However, together they make something unique and as an individual contributor for few dishes alone.”
The kitchen was full of loud applauses, with even the garlic and onion applauding in appreciation, with their skins flapping. The two Chilli’s, Green and Red Dry, were shyly grinning at each other. “I suppose we both have something to drop at the table,” responded Green Chilli.
“Absolutely,” Red Dry Chilli said as he bowed. “Henceforth, we will play together in the same park”. The two started spending every moment together, and the kitchen mood was never sour.
Moral of the Story: What message is this story trying to portray? We all have our unique spice or quality of living. Let us highlight the differences because, in unison, we make a taste that the world will never forget.

LOve it!
Nice post. Green chilli is young and hot. Red chilli is old and experienced. Red chilli may not be red hot really, but it can pretend to be hot by giving red color. Youngsters often get the opportunity but who can beat experience. I would go with red chilli.
I will not go into the technical things like green chilli actually being a fruit but used as a vegetable or spice and further both being the younger and older version of the same stuff because I think that is not the point here.
It is a war for supremacy in the kitchen and a clash of egoes , maybe the young and the old. But all’s well that ends well so there you go , another great war resolved amicably to everyone’s joy.Well done Samata.
