F – Funny Math
It’s a cozy living room. Dad was sitting with a notepad and making some expense calculations. Son jumped onto the couch with a toy car and sat beside his dad. Looking towards his son, an idea came into dad’s mind, and he gave a sly smile and asked:
Dad: Beta, I am making some calculations, and I think I made some mistakes. Will you help me to correct it?
Son: (With a smile full of pride) You are so big, Papa. Why do you need my help? OK, tell me how I can help you.
Dad: What’s 5 + 5?
Son: 10! And you are unable to make such simple calculations? (There was doubt in his eyes.)
Dad: (Making a sorry face) What is 10 + 10? Please tell me.
Son: Papa, I’m just a boy, not a math engine!
Dad: Alright, alright. Let me ask you something else. What’s 100 divided by 10? I have 100 candies with me that I wish to distribute among your 10 close friends on your birthday.
Son: Hmm… a hundred pieces of candy divided among 10 kids…
Dad: That’s a good way to think about it.
Son: So each of my friends will get 9 and I will eat the last 10.
Dad: That’s… creative thievery. But will not the answer be 10?
Son: And I’m the 11th kid! Problem solved!
Dad: Okay smartypants, what’s 7 x 6?
Son: 42. I learned that from a talking toaster in a cartoon.
Dad: Acha!cartoons can teach math. (Shocked eyes of dad)
Son: Only if the toaster sings.
Dad: Last one question, please help Beta. What’s the square root of 144?
Son: The what root?! 🙁
Dad: Square root. Like, how many times of which specific number will make 144?
Son: Oh! I know this… it’s whatever number you’re thinking of right now.
Dad: It’s 12.
Son: Then I was right! I’m a mind reader now. Math is magic!
Dad: Okay, okay. No more math today. (Dad laughed out loud watching the smart gameplay of his son) 🙁
Son: Good. My brain is going on strike now Papa. It’s demanding cookies to relax.
Dad: By the way, beta, before you had cookies, please tell me what’s the cost of 3 cookies if each cost 2 Rupees.
Son: You said no more math! That’s INSANE!
