I am a big fan of playing online games. I find the activity quite relaxing, besides helping me learn several new things. My niece is well aware of this habit of mine and asked me to check the site www.culinaryschools.org. She said that I would love the site but I doubted her because I had no interest in learning culinary arts. Also, I had never heard about this site before and was unsure about what to expect. That is why it was only after a few reminders from her that I finally visited the website.
The first thing that appealed to me about the site was its simple design themed around food. True to its name, the site offers comprehensive details about the various culinary arts schools in America and the world. As I scrolled down the website, not knowing what I was looking for, I came across the Fun section. In this section, there is a page named Cooking Games for Kids. It immediately captured my attention although I had never played kids’ games online before.
Since the only way to be sure was to check the games, I clicked on the link. The link took me to a page where numerous games are listed under different categories. For me, it was like I had landed in heaven. I was excited to try out every game but I wanted to start with something unique. I had great fun trying out the various games on the website and am eager to share my experience.
The Tom & Jerry Show River Recycle
The Tom & Jerry Show River Recycle is the first game that I played as I found its theme quite relevant to modern times. The game teaches the importance of recycling trash with the help of two famous cartoon characters, i.e. Tom & Jerry. The game requires the player to collect specific points during each level.
The number of points a player has to collect is displayed before the beginning of each level. Moreover, each level is timed which makes it more interesting and challenging.
When a player starts the first level, step by step instructions are provided about grabbing the junk from the river.
Points are allotted for each item of trash collected from a river using a claw grabber.
On completing a level successfully, a screen with the junk collected and different power-up options is displayed. The junk items are placed in three cylinders each having a box of a different color placed under it. A number also appears above each box which represents its total quantity.
Once the players choose a power up option, a pop-up containing information about its use and the number and color of the boxes required foe generating it opens up. If the requisite number of boxes of each color are available, the players should click the recycle button.
After the player clicks the recycle button, the junk collected is recycled to generate the selected power-up and move to the next level. If the player does not have the number of colored boxes required for a specific power-up, it is not generated and the player can move to the next level.
I loved this game as it is both exciting and also teaches the importance of recycling trash. The levels present enough challenges and rewards to keep the players engaged for long.
Supermarket Numbers
Supermarket Numbers is another interesting game available on the website. It is a great game for practicing math skills in a fun way. At first, I thought that the game would not entice me as it seemed too basic. However, once I started playing the game, I liked it so much that I played several levels before stopping.
The game requires the player to perform arithmetic calculation to attain a target result.
When the players click the play button a screen with two rows of number tiles is displayed. The target result is displayed on the top left corner of the screen under the heading Goal.
Then, number tiles start dropping down from the top of the screen. The players have to click the tiles that will help them achieve the target goal. They have to select the right number before the tile tower reaches the top of the blue section.
As the players click on the numbers, they are automatically added and this equation is displayed on the left side of the screen under the heading Count. If the players select the wrong tiles, they can click the replay button to reset the count to zero and choose the right tiles.
As the game advances, number tiles featuring minus (-) and division (/) signs are also displayed on the screen. At the same time, the target goal also increases to make the game more challenging for the players.
Even though the game seems simple at first, it is actually quite addictive. Moreover, it helps strengthen the calculation skills and speed of kids without making them feel bored or stressed.
Some Features That I Found Truly Amazing
Apart from the games, I was really impressed by some other features of the website, which I have listed below.
The first and most important thing I want to share is that the gaming screens are quite big. Even though this website also displays ads like most other gaming websites, the game board covers around 70 – 80% of the screen space. This makes playing the game quite easy and accurate.
The second thing that impressed me most about the website is the easy categorization of games. It makes navigating across games relatively simpler. Players can choose their favorite games by simply clicking on the specific sub-category to which it belongs, from the list on the main gaming page.
Finally, I was impressed by the fact that the website also offers other tools and utilities for the users.
