To being a change in the Biopic trend which is presently going in Bollywood movies, Movie Veerappan, made a good attempt to create the environment for thriller genre well. The movie was released in theatres on 27th May 2016. Ram Gopal Varma directed this film and we managed to see the old Ram Gopal back with this movie. He picked this story and presented the same in a perfect stylized way with presentation of all events which are important to showcase the life of notorious Veerappan played by Sandeep Bharadwaj
The story of the movie is about notorious and ruthless Ivory and sandalwood smuggler named Veerappan. Koose Muniswamy Veerappan got himself involved in Jungle killing when he was just a teen. By the time he was killed down in October 2004, more than 900 elephants and close to 100 Policemen lost their lives in hands of Veerappan. The story starts from Operation Cocoon. It was the plot designed to capture and corner wife of Veerappan. Widower Shreya was called for separating Muthulakshmi (Veerappan wife) so that it becomes easy for the cops to reach closer to the smuggler. The situations turns in favour of the cops when Muthulakshmi decides to leave her husband back in Jungle after facing several attempts made to kill Veerappan. Shreya make optimum use of this opportunity to find every minute detail about her husband by presenting her as landlord for Muthulakshmi.
Actual Operation to kill Veerappan started in the second half. What happens next to kill the smuggler – Visit the theater and watch the movie. Sandeep Bharadwaj played brilliantly as Veerappan and captured the true flavor of the original character both in looks and dialogue delivery. Usha Jadhav as Muthulakshmi was equally good in depicting the character. There are several loopholes in the film but to know Veerappan well all that we can say, is that it’s a definite one time watch. Indiacafe24 gives it a rating of 3 stars.
