The mention of films based on Parsi community, often ignites the images of lightweight comedy flicks like Khatta Meetha, Baaton Baaton Mein and the more recent Shirin Farhad Ki To Nikal Padi. However, The Path Of Zarathustra changes that view with its rather weighty and contemplative tone. The movie directed by and starring Oorvazi Irani, Rushad Rana, Tom Alter, Shishir Sharma, Firdausi Jussawalla , Darius Shroff, and Vivek Tandon was released in theaters on 4th Sep 2015.
On his deathbed, the maternal grandfather (Tom Alter) of Oorvazi (Oorvazi, gives her a book to help her understand their religious history better. However, Oorvazi must first find a proper teacher to help her in fully grasping the teachings of the book. So she sets out on a journey to find that someone special and meets people some of whom are real and some the creations of her imagination.
Despite its philosophical theme, The Path Of Zarathustra manages avoid being preachy. Rather, the young and dynamic director Oorvasi Irani needs to be applauded for handling the subject with subtlety and tact. The performances of various actors have also been extremely good and have added to the character of the movie. However, the movie tends to become confusing for non-parsi viewers even though it can prove highly enlightening for people who are aware of some basic facts.
Overall the movie is a good watch and IndiaCafe24 gives Path of Zarasthura a rating of 3 stars.
