The latest flick directed by Prabhudeva, ran into controversies with the release of its very first trailer and hence generated much curiosity amongst the audiences. Starring Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Amy Jackson, Rati Agnihotri, Kay Kay Menon, Yograj Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Singh Is Bling is highly inspired from Singh is King and even shares a similr basic storyline. The movie was released in theatres on 2nd Oct 2015.
The story is about Raftaar Singh (Akshay), a happy go lucky village guy, who is also the biggest annoyance of his father played by Yograj Singh while his mother played by Rati Agnihotri dotes on him. In a bid to put his son on the right path, Raftaar’s father sends him to Goa to work for his friend. There Raftaar meets his dream girl, Sara (Amy Jackson), the only problem being that neither can speak nor understand the other’s language. The problem is solved by the lovely Emily played by Lara Dutta, a translator who almost spoils the love story. Soon Raftaar realizes that Sara has another hidden side and he follows her to Romania to uncover the truth and there he learns about Mark played by Kay Kay Menon. What is Sara’s truth and whether Raftaar is able to win her love is what forms the rest of the story.
Singh Is Bling is director Prabhudeva’s attempt to create comedy movies and he holds this forte quite well. Akshay is as usual great with his perfect comic timing and the other members of the cast have also done a commendable job. The only drawback of the film is that is storyline does not have anything new to offer.
Overall this movie is a good one time entertainer and IndiaCafe24 gives Singh Is Bling a rating of 3 stars.
