I have come across several books written by authors who despite working in the corporate sector, posses great creative skill and amazing writing talent. A recent addition to this list has been Monika Thakur, whose book The Secret Of Sculptures, I recently reviewed. Upon first receiving the book, I was really impressed by the design of its cover, which reflects the sense of thrill and suspense in a perfect manner. As I started reading it, I was completely caught up in this fantastic tale of love, horror, suspense and mystery.
Maitreyi, who has come back to Delhi for her holidays, meets up with her childhood friend Aditi. The two women set out on a fun vacation, which soon turns into a horrifying nightmare when a priceless sculpture is stolen from Aditi’s college. With the rapid unfolding of events, the girls become the prime suspect for the theft. In addition, the girls keep bumping into a strange man with hypnotic eyes, named Mr. Seth, who seems to consider the stolen sculpture to be more than just a historic relic. To make matters worse, the girls soon discover the presence of a supernatural element associated with the sculptures, which seem to be directing everyone’s fate.
The Secret Of Sculptures is a truly hypnotic book that leaves the readers spellbound. The twists and turns in the storyline make it unpredictable, despite which the wonderful writing style of Monika keeps the readers completely engaged. The characters featuring in the story are blunt, forthright and frequently caustic. Even though the story revolves around an imaginary world, Monika’s writing makes it all seem real. The book takes the readers on a roller coaster ride through a land of fun, fantasy and supernatural element. Overall, The Secret Of Sculptures has been a great addition to my collection and I wish Monika all the best with its success.
