Short story anthologies themed around love are quite common but only a few writers are capable of making these books truly interesting. Sourabh Mukherjee is one such writer, whose latest collection of romantic shots titled Loves Lost explores the concept of love from different perspectives. The ebook comes with an attractive cover page featuring a man and woman half embracing in a blackish-blue backdrop.
Loves Lost comprises 5 stories about 5 different individuals and their unique understanding of love. It talks about love not only in the more popular terms of caring for someone but also in terms of other emotions that are generally overlooked. Through these stories, the author has tried to express the fact that love is not only the desire to be with someone, but it is also about remembering them, preserving them in memories, and in some cases, even hating them. It tries to define love as a collection of myriad emotions and experiences that people go through during this extremely wonderful phase of their lives.
Of the five stories in the book, I personally liked the most is “My Summer’s Night With Nargis”, which has a universal appeal. In fact, reading all the stories is similar to taking a rollercoaster ride of love and relationships. Despite their short lengths, each story has its own twists and turns and a surprise ending that leaves the readers filled with a sense of happiness, despair, and even hope.
