What do you feel when you hear someone is a single parent? I am sure countless questions will come to your mind like… Is he or she a divorcee? What happened to his Ex-spouse? Is the child a love child? Well, the question reaches a new height when the parent is a father. People ask why the child is with the father. What happened to the mother? Endless are the questions. My question to people is that will it help them anyhow, if they know why the individual is a single parent. If the person is happy as a single parent, then let him or her, enjoy the life they want, and that’s their right. Do you know that being a single parent sometimes happens because one parent needs to stay abroad for professional needs? Many are there who even do not wish to get married. But, they want to become an excellent parent by adopting a child. That’s their choice of life, and we should respect it.
Poking of people in and around the lives of single parents affects and hampers their life. Sadly such effects create a serious impact on the child growing up under the guidance and care of a single parent. The book titled “Going Solo Raising Happy Kids” by Sujata Parashar is like a guidebook for single parents and offers some workable ideas and insights which will benefit single parents for sure.
What does the book offer?
Well, the book is a short read of 81 pages only. The book discusses how single parents should act while handling the children on their own. The whole book is divided into five key chapters. Every chapter discusses the way, a single parent should act with the child keeping in mind the challenges and advantages of Single parenting. Challenges are indeed big for solo parents, and sometimes they are mentally and physically drained to match the demand of the kids in the growing ages. But if one read this guidebook penned by Author Sujata, who remained a single parent, life will be simple to manage for a solo parent. The author took references of the successful solo parents, who established the fact that solo parenting can be happy parenting both for the parent and child.
Style of writing:
The writing style is unique and easy to understand with no use of Jargon words. All in all, it is an informative read which will open up new avenues for single parents.
Cover-page:
The cover page design presents the title and content of the book. We can see a happy parent and child, assuming the mother is a single parent.
Verdict:
Single parents will find this book informative. People who want to know the pros and cons of single parenting may also pick this book. All in all, it is a good guidebook on solo parenting. I give this book a perfect 5/5 rating.

You’re right that asking all those questions to single parents is not helpful at all. People are always judgemental of others and can’t help themselves asking these pointless questions. It’s good that this author has written a book to help single parents out there through the difficult challenges.
This is a very thorough review, which offers a lot of information on what we can expect from this book. Thank you for taking the time to put it together.
Solo parenting is real challenging… especially in India where people are always judgemental. I feel this will definitely be a helpful book for solo parents
Wow this must be a really helpful book for single parents. Single parenting is so tough and challenging and still consider a not-so-talked about subject in Indian society. Thanks for sharing this one. I hope it reaches to more people through your blog.
I think it’s really a challenging task, Throughout it’s not my topic yet. But thanks for sharing the informative write-ups. I really like it.
