When I was asked to review Ghosts of The Silent Hills penned by Anita Krishan, I was initially somewhat skeptical. This was mainly due to the fact that I have never reviewed books belonging to the horror genre and hence was not sure about what to expect. However, when I received the book, it immediately piqued my interest thanks to the apt design of the cover page. In addition, the tag line revealing that the book features stories based on real events, made me start reading it without any further delay.
The book consists of a total of 10 short stories divided into two parts. The first part includes five stories based on the real-life experiences of the author herself and the second part consists of stories that have no direct link with the author and might even be fictitious. The book takes full advantage of the fact that people tend to feel scared by the things that they don’t fully understand and it makes their imagination run wild. Every single story in the book narrates the spine-chilling tale supernatural spirits wandering on barren mountains and ensuring that readers feel truly spooked.
Even though I am not a huge fan of horror stories, I like this book very much thanks to its various action-packed adventure horror journeys. Anita needs to be applauded for her amazing writing skills characterized by strong characterizations and thick narration. The easy, yet the impactful language of the book ensures that every scene seems realistic and relatable and creates the feel of watching a movie rather than reading a book. It is a must-read for people who love horror stories as it provides an articulate account of various paranormal activities in a gripping manner until the very last page. I wish Anita all the best with the success of this book and her future writings as well.
