Book Review of Murder At Khatri’s By Nisha Thakur: An Edge of the Seat Thriller That Keeps Readers Guessing Till The End

Amazon

A who-dun-it thriller with a romantic twist is like a double flavored icecream for me. However, most authors fail to capture the essence of both genres while engagingly maintaining the suspense.

But this is not so with Nisha Thakur’s novella, Murder At Khatri’s. It offers the right balance of love and thrill to ensure reader engagement.

Premise: Murder At Khatri

Anica and Vihaan are madly in love with each other and have been in a live-in relationship for the past three years. But when Anica proposes marriage to Vihaan, the truth of his past marriage with Manya is revealed. Heartbroken at first, Anica forgives Vihaan after he suggests traveling to his hometown to get a divorce so the two can marry. But on reaching his hometown, Vihaan’s father-in-law expires, supposedly after a long illness, leaving Vihaan as his sole heir. Forced to extend their visit, Anica bonds with Manya, while Vihaan seems to hate her. Quite surprisingly, Manya willingly divorces Vihaan and even wishes Anica a happy life with him. But fate has other plans, as it is soon revealed that Manya’s father died due to slow poisoning, and Manya is the prime accused. Did Manya truly kill her father, or is somebody else hatching a more sinister plan?

Character Development: Murder At Khatri

Each character in the book is well-written and resembles someone the readers can relate to. Be it members of the younger generation, including, Anica, Vihaan, and Manya, or those from the older generation, Nisha has ensured that the readers can relate with them. Their perspectives, lifestyles, and personalities might remind the readers of someone they know.

Plot: Murder At Khatri

The plot is set in the city of Mumbai, and then moves to a beautiful but imaginary town in Uttarakhand. It follows the twists and turns in the lives of the three main characters with an unexpected ending. It is a perfect blend of a classic thriller and a romantic tale.

Writing Style: Murder At Khatri

The story is fast-paced and written in crisp yet simple English, making it easy to understand. The author has not exaggerated things unnecessarily, although some parts need better explaining.

Final Verdict: Murder At Khatri

Murder At Khatri’s is a great book for both mystery and romance lovers. It is not an actual novel. Hence, readers can finish it within a couple of hours. I give it a rating of 4.3/5.
