I have reviewed very few books that talk about an individual in the holistic context and I am glad to say that Seven Habits of Highly Effective People is one of them. When I first heard about the book, I thought that it would be offering details about the seven common qualities shared by the most successful people. However, I was in for a great surprise, as the author Stephen R. Covey, has focused on instilling 7 important habits in the readers to help improve their life. The cover page of the book is designed just like a textbook for higher education, which even suits its theme in a philosophical manner.
The book focuses on seven habits that can help transform people from being dependent on becoming independent. These include being proactive, being focused on the objective, developing the skill of prioritizing tasks, thinking positive, stress on understanding and being understood, synergizing, and balanced self-renewal. The book also helps to clarify the distinction between character ethic and personality ethic and provides the definition of success from a broader perspective.  The book teaches readers to first focus on their internal development before seeking external success.
I found the book to be inspirational, developmental, and practical despite the fact that there is a lot of repetition of some concepts. It provides detailed information about the principles of behaviour that can help an individual to attain success in career, family, or any other aspect of life. The author uses simple language to convey his thoughts and supports them with numerous diagrams, mainly in the form of charts for presenting and explaining different concepts in a simple and effective manner. I recommend this book as a must-read for every individual seeking to transform his/her life for the better.
