Books with animals and birds as their key characters are often written mostly for small children. However, I recently came across a book titled The Emperor: Live The Dream, written by Ram Joshi. This book targeted at adult readers. The cover page of the book features a cute penguin in the foreground, and snow-covered mountains, forming the background.
Em, fondly called Emperor by his mother, a penguin living in Antarctica with the single dream of climbing and crossing the top of the mountain. Although Em is initially discouraged by the elders of his tribe, his determination makes them change their mind and permit him to go. As Em sets out to climb the mountain, he has to overcome various obstacles, including covering the long distance to reach the base of the mountain, the harsh weather, and the dangerous vultures. However, Em continues to achieve one milestone at a time, and despite facing various setbacks, he does not lose his hope until he finally fulfills his dream.
The book offers a perfect allegory for humans trying to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and inspires them to be persistent in their efforts. The extensive research that the writer has put in to set the premise of the book can be experienced while reading it. Although the writing style becomes lackluster in some places, it proves to be an extremely motivating reading experience that fills the readers with a sense of hope and belief. I can very well consider it as an inspirational book. The story is perfect to inspire many readers who restrict them from living their dreams either for peer demotivation or over-possessive parents. Author Ram Joshi penned down the story of Em in such a beautiful manner that I strongly believe that inspirational story lovers will love to read. I wish Ram Joshi immense success for this book and life ahead.
