TOP 9 AUTHORS OF INDIA PERFECT FOR YOUNG READERS
Books….. Yes, I love them, and I consider them as my best pal in the lonely hours of the day. Since early childhood, I have remained keen on reading books. All thanks to my parents who took the pain to develop this good habit in me. I wish that the children of this generation must have this habit & so I decided to pick the names of the nine authors whose books are worth reading.
Ruskin Bond: There will be hardly anyone who never read a single book by Ruskin Bond in childhood days. “Rusty”. “Rusty Runs Away”; “Rusty and the Magic Mountain”; “Rusty goes to London” are some of the great creations of Ruskin Bond for children. There are more than 50 books penned by Ruskin Bond and each one of them is a hit. My personal favorite is the Blue Umbrella.
R.K Narayan: The creator of the fictional town named Malgudi in South India through his stories of Malgudi Days. He received massive appreciation and still receiving the for his excellent masterpiece “ Malgudi Days”, a collection of fictional short stories. The book consists of 32 fantastic short stories that relate the readers to the facet of life of the people in Southern India and their beliefs.
Anu Kumar: Atisa and the Seven Wonders, Travellers’ Tales of India, Across the Seven Seas, In the Country of Gold-Digging Ants, are memorable creations of Anu Kumar for children. History loving young generations are passionate to read her books.
Subhadra Sen Gupta: Whether your kid likes historical fiction or comic strips or ghost stories, you can make your kid happy with any collection of Mrs. Subhadra Sen Gupta. Some of her masterworks are “ A Man Called Bapu”, “ A Clown for Tenali Rama”, “Jodh Bai and Twelve O’Clock Ghost Stories”, “Bishnu, the Dhobi Singer”, “ Kallu’s World-a Big Trouble Again” and more. Do you know that the tele-series” Khoj Khazana Khoj” is based on one of her books titled… The mystery of the House of Pigeons.
Ranjit Lal: Reading the books of Ranjit Lal will be no less than a pleasure for a child. He is quite popular among the children for his fanciful tales like “the TIGERS of Taboo Valley’, “The trees of medley gardens”, “The simians from south block and the yumyum piglets” etc.
Sudha Murthy: Besides being the Chairman of Infosys, Sudha Murthy is one of the authors known for her creative writings for children. “Grandma’s Bag of stories”, The magic of the Lost Temple”, The Magic Drum”, are some legendary creations of Sudha Murthy. She is adorably called “Sudha Amma”. She is one of my favorite authors. I strongly recommend to all parents to encourage their kids to read her books. Each one of them is outstanding.
Asha Nehemiah: Children of all ages enjoy the creative writings of Asha Nehemiah. Her stories are a perfect blend of fantasy, humor, and adventure. Some of her excellent creations are Granny’s Sari, The Runway Wheel, Zigzag, and other stories, etc. The most interesting part of her books is that you will find them in various other Indian languages for example Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, and Tamil ( Translation of original books)
Arup Kumar Dutta: The well-known journalist from Assam is popularly known for his book “The Kaziranga Tail”. The story is about how poachers in Kaziranga were outfoxed by three young boys. This book bagged the Shankar’s Award in the year 1979. His other masterpieces are “Trouble at Kolongijan”; “A Story about Tea”; “The Lure of Zangrila”, etc. In total, he penned down 16 books.
Natasha Sharma: Being an award-winning writer, she is famous not just among the kids but as well as among adult readers too. Her writings are based on a wide range of genres covering various age groups. Her picture books for the kids to historical fiction to young generations have received huge recognition. On records, 12 books of her got published. Some of the recognized works of her include Bonkers! And Kaka and Munni.
