I have watched all the above cartoons with my kids, they did teach them life lessons (sometimes in mischief too) and of course, were good entertainment.
Trust me Cartoons are stress busters for any age. If someone is upset and looking to get out that crappy modd just switch on Tom and Jerry and for a while ur all good.
I am a huge cartoon fan. I love Tom & Jerry, Winnie and Mickey. Sadly, I haven’t ever watched Doraemon and the Power Puff girls. During my childhood, I used to draw Mickey and Donald Duck all the time. I completely feel the same as you–cartoons are truly a good source of knowledge and learning. We all fall in love with our fave characters and then try to become like that. Very good for kids and adults.
Being a parent, I let my girls watch cartoons as well. I always tell them, it’s always about having the right balance in doing things that matters. I guess the main reason why other parents won’t allow their children to watch TV/cartoons is because their scared of them being addicted to watching. You’re correct that there’s lots of things children can get from watching cartoons/TV and if you think about it, there’s also benefits it can give a parent like having peace and quiet while cooking dinner.haha
My daughter is going to love this post. She used to justify watching cartoons and reading comics when she was a kid. Enjoyed reading your post. Tom and Jerry are my favorites.
Even I used to watch cartoon with my daughters Samata and I loved to do that. You are right, my elder daughter learned hindi by watching chhota bheem… she was a crazy fan. Some cartoons can be too violent and not appropriate for kids but overall all the points uv mentioned are true.
I couldn’t agree with you more, Samata! Cartoons have indeed played a significant role in children’s entertainment for generations. They have a unique ability to captivate young minds and ignite their imagination. These shows can be an excellent tool for learning and development while still providing an enjoyable experience for kids.
However, parents must be mindful of the content their children consume, just like with any other form of media. Unfortunately, there is a considerable number of cartoons available today that lack educational value and may even negatively influence children’s behavior. This emphasizes the importance of parents carefully selecting cartoons that entertain and provide meaningful lessons and positive role models for their children.

You are absolutely right. Kids can learn a lot from cartoons especially being friends and helping in need. Parents need to keep a tab on which cartoons, to watch though. There are many black cartoons on the web which can have a negative impact on kids’ psyches. The ones you have listed are the most popular and positive ones. My personable favourite is Tom and Jerry and Mickey Mouse.
I enjoyed reading your post. Cartoons can have positive effects on kids. They can promote creativity and imagination, teach moral lessons and problem-solving skills, enhance cognitive development, and facilitate language acquisition. Cartoons also provide entertainment and can foster social and emotional development by depicting diverse characters and encouraging empathy and understanding.
Cartoons have always had a positive impact as a child on me and so I encourage my little one too. I have always tried to tell the stories verbally to my kiddo a few weeks back she saw one of the stories online on her favourite cartoon channel my daughter connected so well and liked it very much.
Honestly, even today I watch cartoons sometimes and it is indeed very relaxing. yes, they are beneficial but the time spent in watching should be controlled so that kids can protect their eyes by staying away from gadgets.
I feel vindicated! Loved watching cartoon as a kid… we barely had a few hours of them on TV. Love them even now. Tom and Jerry are my favorites. Can watch them for hours.
Would it be funny that even now I watch more cartoons than my kids? But then our time was different and cartoon characters were cuter and innocent. I loved Chip and Dale and Bugs Bunny. And know what, my brother loved Dexter and called me Dee Dee. 😁
I still love watching cartoons. Tom and Jerry are still my go-to. Watching cartoons helps me relax too.
wow, fantastic post about cartoons and the way it is written which character one can learn from is a splendid way of compiling the post.
You have listed all the favourites of my daughters. Before becoming a mom, I used to detest cartoons. But they are my life saviour now.
I love watching cartoons. And yes I learnt a lot too watching cartoons like Disney, Spiderman, Giant Robot etc.
Aww..we just an article on Bestorified on Iconic cartoon characters. 🙂 How cute is that. I loved all the cartoons you had mentioned here. Not only were they part of my childhood and makes me nostalgic, they also gave important life lessons, like friendship, respect, and fighting against evil.
Beautiful! Cartoons leave a deep impression on kids. When my children were younger, I introduced them to cartoons before starting to read books together. Good cartoon shows help in the development of the children.
Who doesn’t love the everlasting chase of Tom & Jerry? We all have grown up seeing these legendary cartoon shows. My kid enjoys her own cartoon shows, famous these days. The problem arises when the content gets mixed with un-related exposure. I have seen cartoons that present visual and behavioral threats to kids. Otherwise, I am all in for a good healthy laugh together over a Duck Tales or Chip & Dale show.
Cartoons or any TV program for that matter can have a lot of value if we filter our options. If parents are mindful about what their kids are watching, then cartoons can be educational too.
I completely agree with you! Cartoons have been a significant part of children’s enjoyment for years, and they offer numerous benefits. Your article beautifully highlights how cartoons encourage creativity, develop emotional intelligence, improve language skills, teach valuable life lessons, provide a sense of humor, encourage physical activity, and promote multicultural understanding. It’s wonderful to see how popular cartoon characters like Doraemon, Mickey Mouse, and Winnie the Pooh teach children important lessons about kindness, determination, friendship, and problem-solving. As a parent, I appreciate the positive impact cartoons have on my child’s life, and I’m glad you emphasized the importance of choosing age-appropriate shows that uphold moral principles. Thank you for sharing this insightful article!
Loved the post dear . It reminds me time when my girls were young . We enjoyed denial tiger’s neighborhood series a lot . I feel if kids watch good quality cations , then it can be a helpful way to support their healthy development.
I love cartoons and depsite the limited screen time at home, I know that my kids have learnt a lot from cartoons, even Spanish. HAhaha! Grateful to Dora the Explorer for that.
I really like to watch tom and Jerry till now, well there are so many cartoons which leave a good impact on kids but there are certain which are totally banned in my home due to the kind of language used.
Cartoons are great way to learn things, without realizing the burden of being taught something. Kids learn right from counting, colours, shapes, rhymes and infact a completely new language through cartoons.
I was very particular is selecting which cartoon my kids should watch so I used to watch with them too, it’s quite relaxing for us too.. Haha. Learning with fun, great way to make them understand certain concept which otherwise becomes difficult.
My little one has just started watching cartoons like Peppa pig, Masha and bear, TOM and Jerry, etc. You have mentioned all the positive points and I also agree that they should watch cartoons but for a limited period f time.
Well said buddy, i personally like cartoons for all the reasons you have stated and love them how they can act as great stress busters too
That’s such a unique & positive way to look at it. But I feel the cartoons now and then have a huge difference. Earlier cartoons were simple with clear messaging. But now the cartoons are too fast and bright and that’s what creates the problem because little kids can’t comprehend clearly. But yes, choosing the right, age appropriate cartoon is the key.
Cartoons surely create a big impact on children and it is very vital to choose the right one. The list has many of my favourites, would like to include Simple Samosa, where all characters were dishes, like the creativity in it.
Cartoons are an absolute favorite! The colorful and imaginative world of cartoons has a magical way of captivating both children and adults alike. Whether it’s the delightful characters, entertaining storylines, or valuable life lessons, cartoons have a unique ability to bring joy and spark our imagination. I still watch Tom & Jerry 😀
Some of the shows these days teach a lot of life lessons to kids. Glad that the post is bringing out the benefits of kids watching cartoons
Cartoons have been the best nostalgia for me. But sadly the Cartoons these days are violent and convey inappropriate messages for kids. But the cartoons that you have shared are all just awesome
Cartoons are an integral part of children’s lives. I completely agree with you!
