Thrillers, be in any format, attracts me a lot, and so when it is a crime thriller, how can I resist picking the book MURDRUM: The Probe Begins by Sohil Makwana. The book is a combo and includes crime thriller and murder mystery, with a pinch of a forensic thriller.  

Plot: 

I hope you all agree that childhood experiences create a strong impact on our minds. It is how we develop our personalities as adults. The perceptions that we make about life from childhood build such concepts which some things turn difficult for others to understand. If you are one, who experienced such circumstances in real life will find it easy to understand why someone is behaving differently than others. The story starts with a past. Well, the past is from the year 1990. The story begins with a cold-blooded murder of a lady. A child found the body of the lady without any head. 
The protagonist of the story is Komal. She started her career as an intern at the CBI headquarters. I believe by this time, you already recognized who Komal is. She failed to have a childhood similar to the one majority experience. Over a couple of years, she suffered so bad, and those experiences finally encouraged her to join forensics. 
The Maharashtra bloody murder was her first case as an intern. She got the task to decode the leads. Right from there, the thrill element got introduced in the story. She discovered a critical match between some of the murder cases. That coincidence factor took the story to the next level. Once I watched a Bengali Web Series Stoneman. In the series, the killer followed a unique pattern of killing the victims. Well, I found the same thrill and essence of a crime thriller in this book.
 If you are in love with crime thrillers, you will love turning the pages of this book to know what next. The gripping plot and perfect transition of one scene to the other made me a satisfied reader. To know what next and who the killer is, do read the book and will love it.

What did I like about the book?

 There is an interesting fact I got to know while reading the book.
Are you aware that hum is DNA that gets extricated from a mosquito? 
Such a fact increased my interest in reading the book. It is one of the best thrillers that I read in recent times. The right twist at the right time made the book a gripping one. The author perfectly displayed his skill as a thriller writer and certainly deserves a round of applause, for the same.

Character development:  

Every character, big or small, developed brilliantly. You will get to know more about criminal psychology and the science behind it. I must mention that the character of the protagonist and the way she worked towards solving the case turned interesting only because of strong character building by the author.

Language and Writing skill: 

Simple language and easy-to-understand use of words makes the book perfect for readers of all ages. The plot turned interesting because of the simple language and excellent writing style. 

Final Verdict: 

Please read this book if you love thrillers, or else it will be a big miss. I congratulate the author for penning down such an excellent book which I loved completely. I wish great success for the author and his book. It’s a perfect 5-star book.
