Only a handful of romantic books offer an interesting cocktail of love, the twists of a thriller and the mystery of the paranormal. In her eBook, If I Hadn’t Met You, author Shalini Ranjan manages to achieve this feat in an interesting and spell-binding manner.
Plot:
Trisha, experiences something unusual on her 18th birthday, and soon after she learns about Ambika, who claims to have died 18 years earlier. Ambika wants Trisha to fulfill her last wish of finding her mangalsutra and to go on a date with an extremely handsome man named Rudra Singh Shekhawat, who turns out to be Ambika’s son. What starts as a quest for a lost mangalsutra, soon turns into a journey of several crazy events, which ultimately lead Rudra to a horrific truth.
Character Development:
The character of Rudra and Ambika have been developed extremely well, although there is some kind of void in the character development of Trisha. However, the chemistry between Trisha and Rudra shines through and adds interest to the story.
Story:
The story combines the elements of different geners to come up with a gothic romance that is quite unique and interesting. It is a good book for people who love short romantic tales with a sprinkling of thrill and mystery.
Writing style:
The writing style followed by the author is simple and easy to understand. The narration style is crisp and the language used is simple. The book is well-paced and given its short length it can prove to be a great read over a lazy weekend.
The title of the book perfectly matches its theme and storyline without actually revealing much about the story.
Final Verdict:
This is one book of its kind and is a mustread of fans of the thriller-suspense-romance genre and I give it 4.3/5.

I like the way you have reviewed the book in detail. It gives a clear picture of what it is without giving any spoilers… adding this to my tbr… thank you for sharing
This book is definitely in my TBR, I will post my review soon
I like a mixture of suspense and romance. Your review states that the book is gripping and you really enjoyed the book.
I have read this book a while back and agree with the points noted out by you, but don’t you think this is more of a fantasy romance rather than a gothic one? I mean yes there was murder involved yet it was much of a fluffball to consider it gothic only due to a friendly ghost. Oops sorry for writing such a long comment XD.
I heard a lot about this book. But Di as I said I read very less on this genre. By the cover of the book it looks a horror genre. Too Much interesting it looks a lose of magalsutra to too many crazy ☺️events!!
At a first glance it looks more like a spooky read. I might skip this book, as horror thriller is not my genre. ????
I’m not a big fan of horror thriller books. I’ll skip this one! Thanks for your review.
Gothic romance. Wow I have never tried that genre. You bring so many varieties of books that I have never thought of exploring. And you do it so well
The review is so well written and sorted. I love thrillers and so I’m looking forward to read this one. Thanks for sharing.
The review is well written
This book is unique. Interesting plot. Your review is excellent and doesn’t give away the entire book at all.
