• Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Varanasi
One of the most visited temples of India is Kashi Vishwanath Temple located in Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and huge numbers of devotees visit this destination to offer puja and get blessing of Shiva. In the year 1780 this temple was built by Ahilyabai Holkar. There is a religious belief that if anyone manages to offer puja to Lord Shiva here in Varanasi, along with a holy dip in the Ganges water, then all their sins of life are washed away. This temple acts as home to one of the 12 Jyotirlinga dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is also popular for the 15.5 meters long gold spire and 3 separate domes which have been constructed using pure gold.
• The Golden Temple of Amritsar in Punjab
A leading destination for Sikh pilgrimages in India is The Golden temple aka Harmandir Sahib. It acts as a true symbol of spiritual and religious tolerance. Guru Arjuna Dev laid the foundation for this temple and later it was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who decorated the temple with pure gold making it a notable architectural master piece. The amrit sarovar which surrounds the main temple on all sides, is popular for its medicinal advantages. It is said that the water of this pond contains medicinal powers which can cure many disease. Devotees in large number make sure to take a dip in this holy water while visiting this temple.
• Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji temple of Andra Pradesh
This temple is one of the most visited religious destinations in India. Here every year there is footfall of more than 40 million devotes from different corners of the country as well as abroad. The architectural style of this temple is Dravidian and is the 2nd richest religious center of India. This temple was constructed during the period of Krishnadeva Raya’s reign. On special festive occasions the numbers of pilgrims are huge in this temple.
• Lord Jagannath Temple of Puri in Orissa
The amazing architectural work of Jagannath temple will make any tourist spellbound. This temple is located on the northern coast of the state of Orissa. Raja Anantavarman Chodaganga Deva built this temple during the 12th century. Lord Jagganath is the deity of this temple. During Rath Yatra celebration this temple is visited by large number of pilgrims to offer prayers to Lord Jagganath. 120 shrines are there in this temple. Mahaprasad is distributed among devotees and visitors to this temple. The Mahaprasad is completely vegetarian food which is prepared without using onion or garlic. Goddess Mahalakshmi, scrutinizes the making of Maha Prasad personally, that is a prevailing belief among devotees. It is said those who get this Prasad, in their life there will be spiritual advancement.
• Somnath temple of Gujrat

A wonderful article. It made me nostalgic. I had taken my father to Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji temple for his 75th birthday and to Kashi Vishwanath Temple on his 76th birthday. The other two he had visited before his retirement. These are beautiful temples with loads of positivity that surround you on your visit there.
